The band and I will be back at the Ranch for a great evening of original acoustic rock with Americana flare.
I’ve been writing and recording and will be featuring some new tunes. This is such a vibey place nestled in beautiful West Marin. The moon will be bright again that night so it’ll light your way there and back!

This song was inspired by a couple of people who are out there doing extraordinary things. The first person is about a woman I read about in the newspaper who takes her band onto muni buses in San Francisco and plays music for the passengers. Her name is Rupa and her band is Rupa and the April Fishes. I think this is a fabulous and brave thing to do to bring a little joy and music into people’s lives when they least expect it. Surely it makes their day extraordinary. The second person is a man I have met, Michael Pritchard who is a motivational speaker as well as a successful comedian who goes into some of the toughest schools imaginable and talks with them about tolerance, bullying and self esteem. He puts himself on the line and he transforms people by his words and laughter. He is one my heroes. I have encountered his amazing gift of kindness first hand. There are people out there such as teachers, artists, volunteers and healers who may be under the radar screen but do extraordinary things to serve others. I regard them as the foot soldiers that truly make this world go around. I am thankful that I was able to put this into a song and convey my feelings about what people do from the kindness of their heart.

We had a fantastic weekend the weekend of June 11th & 12th. The trio performed (sans Dave who was unable to join us) at Fairfax Saturday then the full band at the Novato Art & Wine. Both shows we fantastic, we had a blast.

Go to the Music/Media under Videos, there’s a featured song from each of these festivals. Go to Photos and there’s some nice shots to share.

Now that the first hurdle has been cleared and the city council has approved the sale of the theatre, it’s time to raise the over 2 mil required to see this dream come alive. Keep pledged! for information on the theatre go to:

This past August we performed at the Rock & Pledge along with Wunderbread 5. It was a grand success with over 45K raised and 1000 attendees.

Another fundraiser earlier in the year at City Hall on Wednesday April 27th.

I’m back with “the boys” (as I affectionately call them). They are drummer Dave Tavel and bassist Robin Hildebrant who worked with me on my last CD “Landing”. “Go” is another beautiful collaboration with these great musicians and wonderful friends who intuitively know how to embrace and enhance the heart and spirit of my songs. They “get it” even when it’s sometimes unclear to me.

Amy Wigton On Songwriting
Amy Wigton is a singer/songwriter with a “voice as big as all outdoors.” She plays a solid rhythm guitar heavily laced with tasty picking as her voice soars from a beefy wail to a soft whisper. Audiences are moved by the dynamic roller-coaster ride of emotions that her songs convey.
Rick: As a performer, you have been described as “a powerhouse of energy and intensity with the soul of a rocker and the heart of a folk troubadour.” How has your style as a performer influenced your style as a songwriter?
Amy: Most of the time the songs begin with a life of their own and then, as it starts to gel, I begin to stylize the vocals and guitar embellishments that will allow me to put the song across. There was one song I wrote entitled Carry Me Away that I wrote to incorporate a cool vocal leap from chest to head voice that I heard one of my favorite vocalists, Martin Sexton, do on a song of his that I love. Sometimes I hear things that I really like and I sprinkle that into my songs and that comes from all kinds of music I listen to from funk to folk to the music I listen to in yoga class.

With the assistance of my husband (bless his patient heart) I’ve learned Protools LE to record and produce music. This was huge for me and it took a couple years to get to where I could produce my new EP. It’s a real challenge playing both engineer and musician and there’s lots of stretching between operating the keyboard and playing the guitar which can be a little strenuous on the back.
I love the recording process. I’ve become a good editor and can interpret audio signal shapes to determine if it’s a good take or not. Recording is a wonderful and timeless beast that sucks me in. It’s a struggle to stop and switch gears to my family life but so far I’ve managed to keep it together and have not left my child curbside. I wear hat to cover up my headphone hair look.
